10 Reasons Leadership Matters

How are the people you lead going to be different as a result of your leadership? Do you think about this?  Does it matter?  It doesn’t matter whether you lead one person or 100, the answer to this question is a game changer.

Your ultimate goal as a leader is to reproduce and grow leaders.  Develop future leaders.   Eventually, you have to turn people into leaders and make a difference in the lives of those you lead.

How do you see leadership?  Does making a difference matter?  Does changing a life matter?  One person.  That’s all it takes. A family tree is changed.  Your leadership matters!

It matters because it shows that you care.

It matters because you lead with purpose.

It matters because trust enables you to make a difference.

It matters because you inspire and teach.

It matters because you drive out fear and believe in a great future.

It matters because failure is ok.

It matters because you don’t treat people like a number; you treat them like you want to be treated.

It matters because you know you don’t have all the answers.

It matters because people follow you (the leader) first and the vision second. Who you are matters.

It matters because those who are willing to work hard will stand out.

Leaders make a difference in peoples lives.  If they don’t, they are not leading. What kind of difference is up to you.  The people you lead will be different when you leave.  The key is you make a positive difference.

Doing nothing for others is the undoing of one’s self. We must be purposely kind and generous, or we miss the best part of existence. The heart that goes out of itself gets large and full of joy. This is the great secret of the inner life. We do ourselves the most good doing something for others. ~ Horace Mann

Great leaders serve.  They care about people.  Leading with a sense of purpose drives their success.  They lead with a purpose versus making money. Author Simon Sinek calls this the “why”.

Have you thought about your answer?   How will the people you lead be different because of your leadership?  You will make an impact. The size and scope of the impact is up to you.   It does matter.

Leadership matters.

  1. Great leader must be a role model for his team

  2. D'Anne Hotchkiss says:

It matters because with great leadership comes great performances.

  3. John, I have to you a +10 for this one. You have summed up the very best kind of Leader. It is certainly what I aspire to.

  4. John,

“How are the people I lead going to be different as a result of my leadership?”

I think this is a great question. Leaders would benefit hugely if they always keep this question in mind.

    Thanks for your post.
